About Initiative

The objective of this initiative is to provide financial support to poor meritorious students of Bangladesh so they can continue their studies and be gainfully employed after completion of their studies. More specifically, the initiative will identify poor and meritorious students, especially from the rural areas of Bangladesh who are in serious need of financial support to carry on their studies and provide them with a scholarship known as the “Grameen Jameel Scholarship”. 500 such students at high school and university level from all over Bangladesh will be selected and provided with the “Grameen Jameel Scholarship” Ideally a Grameen Jameel Scholar will be supported for a period of 5 years, with the support renewed every year depending on the Scholar’s satisfactory academic performance and continuation of studies. A student in vocational education may also be supported under this scholarship initiative.
